From the early whaling peregrinations of antebellum sailors; inspiring literature like 'Moby Dick' -- to the Grand Tour of  Black American artists of the late nineteenth century -- to the Great Migration of Black American families, beginning the early twentieth century; travel has been truly epochal for Americans -- Black especially. For the collective forged in adversity, preparation and restraint becomes inherent.
